Pitigliano is officially one of the Borghi pi\u00f9 Belli d\u2019italia (Italy\u2019s Most Beautiful Villages) and its easy to see why\u2026 she\u2019s wonderful! Unforgettable, suggestive and unique, it connects nature, history and art and combines them into a small village full of things to discover\u2026<\/p>\n

Its churches are among the most beautiful in the Maremma from the great Cathedral in Baroque style and dedicated to Saints Peter and Paul to the church of San Rocco, also known as the Church of Santa Maria, with its breathtaking frescoed coats of arms. Just outside of town, the Church of Santa Maria Assunta is simple and refined, while the Sanctuary of the Madonna delle Grazie is surrounded by a large garden and enjoys a breathtaking view of Pitigliano.<\/p>\n

Back in town, there are plenty of impressive monuments and buildings to capture your attention. The Orsini Palazzo, the ancient residence of the family of counts, the Medici Aqueduct, an imposing feat of engineering built by the Orsini family and completed by the Medici with 15 arches that can be seen long before you arrive in town. The Monument to the Ursinea offspring, symbol of the power of the Orsini family, the Salvini Theater, the historical city theatre and the Fountain of the Seven Cannelle.<\/p>\n

Inside Palazzo Orsini are two interesting museums, the Archaeological Museum, which collects artefacts from the nearby archaeological sites, and the Diocesan Museum of Sacred Art, which exhibits objects, sacred vestments, works of art and sacred texts from churches all over Tuscany. Another interesting museum is the A.Manzi Outdoor Archaeological Museum, where you can explore real Etruscan necropolises and vie cave roads, as well as models of ancient Etruscan houses.<\/p>\n

Pitigliano is known as La Piccola Gerusalemme or Little Jerusalem. At the end of the 16th century, it hosted a large Jewish community and the Jewish quarter has today been transformed into a fascinating museum, allowing you to explore the ancient Synagogue, Cellar, the Kosher Butcher, the Forno delle Azzime bakery and the Ritual Bath.<\/p>\n\t\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t<\/section>\n\t\t\t\t
