Even its thermal waters were known and appreciated, it was in fact in Roman times that the first public baths were born, a meeting place for the political and social life of the town.<\/p>\n<p>But the fame of Saturnia does not stop at its thermal baths, even the village itself is a real wonder, rich in ancient monuments and history.<\/p>\n<p>Strolling through the streets of the Tuscan town, stop and admire its most beautiful monuments:<\/p>\n<p>Church of Santa Maria Maddalena: certainly prior to 1188 the church was restored in 1933. Inside you can admire a painting depicting the Madonna with the ba, bino between Saints Sebastian and Mary Magdalene, made between 1475 and 1485 by artist Benvenuto di Giovanni, a wooden tabernacle depicting Saint Clare and Saint Elizabeth of Hungary.<br \/>\nCinta Muraria: dating back to the 2nd century BC, it was built by the Romans and restored in the 13th century by the Aldobrandeschi. In 1400 it was enlarged by the Sienese.
